Driver fatally hit pedestrian crossing West Commercial Boulevard in Tamarac
A 23-year-old North Lauderdale man hit a pedestrian, killing him, on West Commercial Boulevard in Tamarac, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.
The adult man was walking on or near the crosswalk in the area of the 3300 block of West Commercial shortly before 11 a.m. Monday when the driver of a black 2000 Ford Mustang convertible hit him while heading east in the left lane, the Sheriff’s Office said. The driver stopped and cooperated with investigators.
Tamarac Fire Rescue pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. His name is being withheld under Marsy’s Law, a voter-approved constitutional amendment that allows crime victims to withhold their identifying information from the public.
The Sheriff’s Office said the driver was not believed to be impaired at the time of the crash, and detectives are continuing to investigate.
