Phillies Injury Updates: Rhys Hoskins return would be ‘pleasant surprise’
The Latest Phillies Injury Updates
- Rhys Hoskins (torn left ACL)
- Status: 60-day injured list — Out for regular season, could return in late October.
- The Phillies first baseman underwent successful left ACL reconstruction surgery the morning of Thursday, March 30.
- In a recent conversation with Phillies Nation on Aug. 25, Hoskins said he was “on track” to push for a return for the playoffs. He is running two out of every three days and hitting off a tee.
- Rob Thomson said on Sept. 13 that Hoskins will continue to hit off a tee when the team travels to St. Louis. He was taking a break on Wednesday and focusing more on pitch tracking on the HitTrax machine. On Hoskins’ knee as he continues to test it through changing directions, “The soreness comes and goes because he’s training old muscles, I guess. For the most part, he’s doing really well,” Thomson said.
- Thomson also said that a possible Hoskins return for the Wild Card series is not in play. If he does return, it will be deep in the postseason. Thomson agreed that it is a long shot. “I think if he gets back, we’d be pleasantly surprised.”
- Andrew Painter (right UCL sprain)
- Status: Full season MiLB injured list — Likely out until 2025
- Painter underwent successful Tommy John surgery on July 25, which was performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache. The procedure comes with an estimated 15-18 month recovery timeline. (Last Updated July 26) — Tim Kelly
