Seagulls chance to reach the last eight
THE Seagulls have the chance to reach the quarter-finals of the Nathaniel MG Cup for the first time when they travel to Prestatyn Town on Tuesday (Sept 19, 7:45pm kick-off).
Prestatyn are currently 12th in the JD Cymru North with just two wins from six games, and were beaten 4-0 at home by Holywell Town at the weekend, but they got through the last round of the MG Cup by beating Flint Town United on penalties helped by a couple of fine spot saves from keeper Mike Jones.
Steve Evans has to decide whether to use the game to give some game time to squad members who have not figured too much this season, or stick to the basis of the side that has gained some momentum by claiming two massive back to back league victories over the last fortnight.
Either way he is expecting a tough game, commenting: “Prestatyn is a tough, tough place to go, but we’ll be ready.”
The Bay have won on their last two visits to Bastion Gardens, although it needed a late, late goal from Tom McCready, two minutes into added time, to snatch 3-2 win last season.
Prestatyn won 3-1 at home when the two clubs met in 2019/20 – Bay’s first season back in Welsh football.
