I have a secret room in my house – some say it’s on their ‘dream home demand list’ but others find it ‘claustrophobic’
A MOM-OF-FOUR revealed a secret world hiding behind her sliding door.
Although some viewers found it to be claustrophobic, she said her kids love to kick back and snuggle up with a book in there.
TikToker and book worm Leslie (@showbizbooks) knows the joy of an afternoon spent reading in bed.
Hoping to pass that along to her four boys, she and her husband finally created the cozy library they had wanted for so long.
In the clip, she began by filming a room in their home, which looked standard at first glance – with a couch and side tables.
The sliding barn door in the corner, however, didn’t contain a closet behind it like you’d expect.
“Everybody has that one thing in their house that everybody thinks is so cool,” Leslie said.
“Could be a hidden cabinet, little movie room, or gadget. But ours is this.”
When she pulled back the door, she revealed a small, curved room that looked like it came right out of a Harry Potter movie.
It was lined with bookshelves that were packed with novels, and had a twin-sized, wall-to-wall bed at the end, perched beneath a tall window and with a charming lamp hanging from the ceiling.
The checkered pillows and fur blanket proved comfort was key in there.
“Our secret reading nook. We talked about making it for years, but it wasn’t until COVID shut things down that we finally did it.”
Although clearly a dream for her and her boys, as she later posted a clip of one of them reading in there, some weren’t so sure.
“I’m claustrophobic so staying in the bed there would freak me out, but I love the idea of a secret book closet,” one admitted.
Others, however, were sold.
“Adds to list of dream home demands,” wrote one.
“The naps in there would be top tier,” a second imagined.
