Disney’s Magic Kingdom abruptly closes part of park after bear spotted searching for food & hunt launched to capture it
DISNEY WORLD has partially closed one of its parks after a potential bear sighting.
Parts of Magic Kingdom in the Orlando, Florida theme park were shut down around noon on Monday.
The bear was spotted in a tree, according to officials.
Flordia Fish and Wildlife are currently trying to capture the bear so that it can be relocated, local NBC affiliate WESH reports.
Disney’s app, My Disney Experience, showed multiple closed attractions.
“In most cases, it is best for bears to be given space and to move along on their own, but given this situation, staff are working on capturing and relocating the bear,” Florida Fish and Wildlife said.
“During the fall, bears are more active as they search for food to pack on fat reserves for the winter.
“This particular bear was likely moving through the area searching for food,” officials added.
The following attractions have been closed:
- Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
- Country Bear Jamboree
- Hall of Presidents
- Haunted Mansion
- Jungle Cruise
- Liberty Square Riverboat
- Magic Carpets of Aladdin
- Pirate’s Adventure
- Pirates of the Caribbean
- Swiss Family Treehouse
- Tom Sawyer Island
- Walt Disney World Railroad
