Foot content pays, and the models who’ve landed a lucrative platform have a financial obligation to take care of their feet as best they can. We asked them to share their tricks of the trade.
Foot Health Matters
Everyone should take care of their feet, whether their toes are worth a paid subscription or not. A 2018 study of 498 participants published in the BMJ Open journal found that those with ‘foot pathologies’ (i.e. foot pain, foot function, and bad overall foot health) had a lower quality of life than those who took better care of their feet. And, according to the Center for Disease Control (CDC) CDC poor foot hygiene can lead to conditions such as athlete’s foot (a fungal infection), other fungal nail infections, and even hookworm.
Meanwhile, a review from Harvard Health found that women in particular, despite attention paid to aesthetic elements of their feet, put off health problems until they become impossible to ignore. “While they might clip and paint their toenails on a regular basis, women often neglect the health of their feet,” the authors write, pointing to another 2018 study from the American Podiatric Medical Association, which found of 1300 people surveyed, 75% reported problems with their feet, from odors to bunions and nail problems.
According to Marian T. Hannan, a professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School, good foot care includes choosing comfortable footwear, soaking the feet on a regular basis to remove bacteria and fungi, regularly moisturizing, frequently changing socks, and trimming toenails.
How Do Foot Models Take Care of Their Feet?
“I get my toenails painted every three weeks. I also make sure my skin is always well hydrated by using moisturizer on them morning and night,” said OnlyFans creator Tinsley Teaser. “I also use a pumice stone to get rid of dead skin.”
As a male foot model, @TeddyBigFeet (also known as @juanpfernandez13), favors a slightly simpler foot care routine. “My feet care routine is not the hardest nor most detailed one,” he said. “I trim my toenails about three times a month. @Soleofmax has had size 12.5 feet since the age of 12 and says he has been buying himself nail kits to maintain his feet since he was a child. These days, he also likes using coconut oil and even hair conditioner to keep his feet moist.
Not every foot pic requires hours of maintenance. For some models, like @Tall.Man98, the preference is to keep their feet as natural looking as possible. “I pretty much just clip my toenails once every two weeks or so, they don’t grow very fast,” he said. He rinses them in the shower and that’s about it.
