One brave bettor stands to win more than $1 million if the Titans win the Super Bowl
As the NFL season marches on, it’s always interesting to look back at futures bets made weeks ago and see how they stack up based on results so far.
If you’re sitting on a Chicago Bears or Cincinnati Bengals bet to win the Super Bowl, the first few weeks of the season haven’t gone as planned. If you’ve got a Detroit Lions or Buffalo Bills ticket, you’re feeling a little better than you did at the start of the season.
I’ve been keeping track of the Top 20 biggest Super Bowl bets by liability in this file all season, so you can see them yourself in one place. But one notable one was added recently from a bettor with an outsized belief in the Tennessee Titans.
On Sept. 17, this bettor wagered the curious amount of $10,101.01 on the Titans to win the Super Bowl at 100-1 odds at DraftKings Sportsbook. The wager would win $1.01 million if Tennessee wins its first Super Bowl. The Titans haven’t made the Super Bowl since Super Bowl 34 in the year 2000, when they lost 23-16 to Kurt Warner’s St. Louis Rams.
The Titans are currently in a four-way tie at 2-2 atop the AFC South and are an impressive 3-1 against the spread. They have a veteran quarterback in Ryan Tannehill and veteran skill position players in Derrick Henry and Deandre Hopkins. And, very importantly, one of the most respected head coaches in the NFL in Mike Vrabel.
They also had a win total of 7.5 before the season, so not much was expected from them.
Can they make the playoffs and give this bettor hope to cash a giant ticket?
