Relive FAU’s historic Final Four run with the team and coaches in Boca Raton
The community will have the chance to take a look back at the greatest season in Florida Atlantic University basketball history in Boca Raton.
The event, set for 7:30 p.m. Oct. 19, will be hosted and moderated by WPBF-Ch. 25’s Shayne Wright at The Studio at Mizner Park, 201 Plaza Real. Join FAU basketball coaches and several of the team’s star players in their first public appearance since the Final Four run during March Madness.
The Owls finished the 2022-23 campaign at an NCAA-best 35-4 and fell to San Diego State 72-71 on a buzzer-beating basket by Lamont Butler. The 2023-24 season begins on Nov. 8 at Loyola Chicago.
“You don’t have to look past last season to see what FAU’s miraculous run to the Final Four meant to the Boca Raton community,” said Stephanie Siegel, executive director at The Studio at Mizner Park. “To give local fans the chance to hear from the players themselves in an intimate setting like The Studio in the heart of Downtown Boca will be a memorable event.
“The players and coaches will talk about what it was like to be thrust into the national spotlight and quite literally living out a dream come true,” she said. “We are excited to support engaging programming and our community.”
The event will feature FAU star players Alijah Martin, Johnell Davis and Nick Boyd, along with the entire Final Four roster including Leo Beath, Tre Carroll, Jalen Gaffney, Isaiah Gaines, Vladislav Goldin, Bryan Greenlee, Jack Johnson, Brenen Lorient, Jakel Powell, Alejandro Ralet, Giancarlo Rosado, Devin Vanterpool and Brandon Weatherspoon.
Money from the event goes to the Paradise Collective where it will be used to activate Florida Atlantic University athletes in the community. They have partnered with the YMCA, Police Athletic League, Boca Raton Fast Pitch Softball, Boca Helping Hands and the Florence Fuller Child Development Center.
“The event is in some ways a fundraiser in that The Studio and the Collective will raise some funds, but it is more of a celebration of the synergy that name image and likeness can create if done in its purest sense,” said Paradise Collective’s Chuck Toman. “We are helping our local community not-for-profits to achieve their goals by leveraging the student-athletes of our local community.
“In this particular event,” he said, “we are supporting The Studio to deliver on its purpose and also helping raise funds to create opportunities to plug our student-athletes into other not-for-profits here in Boca Raton and the surrounding community.”
Tickets start at $20 with VIP Meet & Greet packages available from $50 to $125.
