Emmerdale heartbreak as beloved villager flees the village and mystery captive is finally found
IT was heartbreak in Emmerdale tonight as a beloved resident fled the village – while the mystery captive was finally found.
Tonight’s episode saw Lydia Dingle be supported by her friend Kim Tate after finally opening up to her about being raped by Craig Reed.
Kim encouraged Lydia to tell husband Sam what had happened after he messaged to say he was on his way home from Ireland that day.
Lydia promised she would, but once back home, she was seen making a call to enquire about a room for the night.
She said: “Hello, could you tell me if you’ve got a room for tonight? Great, and what if I wanted to stay on? I’m not really sure of my arrangements.”
Later, Sam arrived home with Vinny and jubilantly told Mandy and Samson what they had picked up.
But when he asked where Lydia was, his face fell when Mandy handed him a note that had been left on the table, saying she had gone to her mum’s for a few days.
Meanwhile, Moira Dingle finally rumbled what husband Cain and his brother Caleb were up to.
The brothers have been acting shifty ever since their mystery trip, and after being alerted by Nate that something still wasn’t right, Moira followed Cain to the abandoned farm.
In the last episode, viewers saw that they were holding someone captive, and despite Cain trying his best to throw Moira off the sent, she head a big noise and realised someone was in the farm house.
Bursting in, she saw the hooded figure and recognised them, saying in shock: “You?!”
But the credits rolled before viewers could find out who the mystery person is, prompting further speculation on social media.
Taking to social media to comment on the twists and turns of the episode, one Emmerdale fan exclaimed: “Should make Moira a police detective in the village! Worked out Cain’s random activity in record time!
“Usually takes residents a month before they find anything out!!!”
Another added: “OMG WHO IS IT???”
A third tweeted: “Who the heck was that in the barn who we thinking?”
A fourth baffled viewer wrote: “I don’t possibly know who the hostage is? Moira seems to know him, but WHO is it?”
Emmerdale airs on ITV1 and is available on ITVX.
