I’m a mechanic who’s fixed thousands of cars – simple hack is best way to demist your windscreen… using a cheap item
DRIVERS have been left stunned after a mechanic revealed a simple trick to stop your windscreen fogging up.
Veteran mechanic Scotty Kilmer, who has been in his profession for over 55 years, explained a simple hack that can be used to demist your windows.
In a video uploaded to TikTok, Scotty described it as a “car hack no one knows”.
He proceeded to tell viewers how there are all sorts of products you can use to help demist your windscreen.
But there is one specific product that does the trick even better – polish.
He said: “Now this isn’t a wax, it’s a polish.
“You just put some on a towel and you polish the whole thing (windscreen).
“Then once it’s dry, you just wipe it off and make it clean.”
However, while this sounds simple enough, it is the process of removing dirt from the windscreen that is the most important part.
Once Scotty had done just that, he explained the real secret behind the trick.
“Now that you’ve got all the dirt off, the moisture doesn’t have as much stuff to stick to,” Scotty continued.
“You won’t get a build up of moisture like you do on a dirty windshield, on the inside – the part most people don’t think about.”
Scotty has also warned drivers how one car firm is making a mistake by changing a popular motor.
The car veteran took to social media to warn drivers that Toyota has replaced V6 engines in its Highlander with a four-cylinder turbo engine.
