Jase Richardson, the four-star guard from Miami (FL) Christopher Columbus and the son of former Michigan State standout Jason Richardson, committed to Michigan State on Sunday.

Ranked the No. 3 combo guard in 2024 by 247Sports.com, he also considered Alabama and Cincinnati. He most recently visited Michigan State Oct. 8.

“I’ll be going to Michigan State University,” he announced on ESPN with Paul Biancardi.

“Just definitely how to be a point guard,” he said when asked what he’ll learn from Hall of Fame coach Tom Izzo.

“With AJ Hoggard and Tyson Walker, watching them last year, I feel like he’s done a great job developing his guards and getting them ready.”

Asked what he’ll bring to the Spartans, he said, “Just a lot of energy. I’m a high-energy guy, definitely going to bring some offense. I feel I can really play-make and be an all-around guy for the team.”

Jason Richarson played at Michigan State from 1999-2001, playing in two Final Fours, and winning the 2000 national championship. He declared for the NBA after two years, and was the No. 5 overall pick in the 2001 NBA Draft by the Golden State Warriors. The shooting guard played 13 seasons in the NBA, and was a two-time NBA Slam Dunk champion.

He joins shooting guard Kur Teng and power forward Jesse McCulloch in Michigan State’s 2024 class.
