I’m a beauty pro and tried and tested post £400 straighteners to £20 versions – I wasn’t expecting the results
A BEAUTY pro has unveiled the results of a test she performed on two pairs of hair straighteners.
Mattie is a skincare, haircare and make-up specialist and often uses her social media account to share her top tips and tricks with viewers.
In one such video, she decided to give fans her unbiased opinion on two sets of hair straighteners, with one being more expensive than the other.
Viewers could see she had the Dyson Corrale hair straighteners in one hand, which cost £400, and a pair of £20 Remington Ceramic straighteners in the other.
“This is my hair not straightened or blow dried, just brushed out,” she said, starting the clip off.
TikTok user @mattie.skincare then used the Dyson tool to style the left side of her mane, going section by section.
Sharing her review, she said: “The plates drag on the hair and sometimes hairs get caught. It doesn’t feel great.”
Holding the bottom half of her mane up, she added: “The ends look dry and rough”.
She then used the Remington hair straighteners on the right side of her head and explained: “These glide over the hair easily.
“Straight away my hair feels softer and smoother.”
“Remington are the clear winner in my opinion, don’t you think?” she added as she showed off the results.
In the caption, she said: “Does anyone else put sections of hair in their mouth while they’re styling it?
“I did a side by side test to review the £400 Dyson Corrale hair straightener with £20 Remington Ceramic straighteners recommended by Amazon…”
Some agreed with her assessment, including one person who wrote: “Remington best,” followed by a heart emoji.
But others weren’t so sure as another shared: “Its obvious that the Remington was going to seal more but it also long term is going to damage more”.
Which one do you think is the winner here?
