The Nation's Weather for Monday, October 16, 2023
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
A cold front pressing onshore in the Pacific Northwest will
deliver periods of steadier rain and even the chance for a
rumble of thunder in some spots today from western
Washington state into northwestern portions of Oregon. This
will also include the Seattle and Portland areas. Rain will
also extend into near-coastal Northern California, working
farther inland as the day progresses. Otherwise, generally
dry and fairly sunny conditions will stretch from Idaho and
southern Montana to the Mexican border and eastward through
the Plains and a fair portion of the Midwest, as an enormous
ridge of high pressure dominates the overall pattern. The
exception to this quiet pattern will be the East, where
showers should be plentiful from the Appalachians through
interior zones of the Northeast.
