Mum-of-22 Sue Radford shares heartbreaking snap of stillborn son Alfie, adding they ‘forever miss him’
SUE Radford has shared an emotional post in tribute to her stillborn son as part of Baby Loss Awareness Week.
The famous mum-of-22 and husband Noel were left heartbroken after their 17th child’s heartbeat couldn’t be found during a scan in 2014.
But the pair vowed to keep Alfie’s memory alive, and to commemorate the week have shared a picture of their son’s hand, candles lit in his honour, and his grave surrounded with beautiful flowers and teddies.
Sharing a post on the family’s Instagram account, Sue wrote: “Wave of light 2023. Forever our missing heartbeat Alfie Thomas Radford,” accompanied with an angel emoji.
She added a picture of gifts and flowers that they’d lay at their son’s grave, as well as a heart-breaking snap of the baby’s hand, and candles lit to spell out his name, complete with a heart underneath.
Followers shared their support and love in the comments, with one writing to Sue that: “Alfie is an angel watching over y’all.”
Another added: “Sending love and prayers to you all you are truly amazing family [sic].”
The Morecambe-based super mum has previously opened up about her grief over the loss of her son Alfie, writing that it “never gets any easier”.
Heartbreakingly, the loss of Alfie came just a year after Sue had suffered a miscarriage in September 2013.
Since then, the family have vowed to keep his memory alive, with Sue even getting a tattoo of tiny footprints on her hand and feet in his honour.
In an episode of the family’s reality TV programme, the mum also opened up about feeling “quite bad” for taking her healthy pregnancies for granted, adding that stillbirths “should definitely be spoken about a lot more”.
And that’s exactly what Baby Loss Awareness Week pledges to do, aiming to bring together people touched by pregnancy and baby loss so they know that they’re not alone.
The week culminates with the global Wave of Light event, in which families are invited to burn a candle to remember all the babies that have died too soon.
