I married a 5ft 3in man – trolls laugh that he couldn’t even reach my veil but he’s a true king… the jibes mean nothing
A NEWLYWED has hit back at the cruel comments she received about marrying a man shorter than her.
Samantha is 5ft 9in, and tied the knot with her 5ft 3in husband Stephen Di Fede last month.
She shared footage of her wedding online, and while the majority of people wished her and her new husband happiness for their lives together, others weren’t anywhere near as kind.
“I’d rather drink s**t through a straw, but thanks,” one person commented on a TikTok video of the nuptials where Samantha had told people to “give short men a chance”.
“No thank you. I’ll stay single,” another said.
“Hahahaha nope sorry my heart isn’t as good as yours gf,” a wrote.
While another dramatically wrote that they’d rather “die single” than get together with a man shorter than them.
Samantha’s video had also included a funny moment from the wedding, when she’d been forced to crouch down as her husband couldn’t get the veil over her head.
She responded to the cruel remarks in another video, as she wrote: “There’s been a lot of hateful people commenting at the fact that I married my husband even though he’s shorter than me.
“It has been extremely hurtful to us both to see that after sharing such a vulnerable and beautiful moment of us getting married.
“True love has no height, judgement or hate.
“This day meant the WORLD to us. Every moment, even the funny ones.
“And as always, we are grateful to our friends, loved ones and virtual friends/supporters who loves us and root for our journey.”
“A message to MANY of you bitter people out there,” Samantha captioned the video, adding the hashtags #shortking #tallqueen #loveislove #lovehasnoheight #shorthusband #tallwife.
“Why do you keep highlighting that he’s short then get mad when ppl make rude comments?” one person questioned.
“Just focus on your wedding!”
“You probably missed the fact that our acct is about our height difference and breaking the norm,” Samantha hit back.
“There’s a difference between people making light and jokes about not getting the veil off vs degrading him, wanting to d*e, and drag him down.
“Get a grip. Not everything is for clickbait.”
She added in response to another comment: “Don’t get us wrong, our whole page is about the height difference + normally never care about what haters have to say, but on a day that meant so much to us, we didn’t expect people to be so hateful towards him.”
Other people sent their best wishes to the newlyweds, with one writing: “What did I see? just two beautiful people in love, celebrating their wedding.”
“I’m 5’3 my wife is 6ft we have been married for 12 years now, don’t let rude people get to you!” another added.
As a third wrote: “People stop growing when they reach perfection and I’m sure he’s perfection to you.
“Be happy, cherish each other.”
“My husband is a smidge shorter than me also and if I wear heels I tower over him,” someone else commented.
“Height really is irrelevant once u love each other!”
With Samantha replying: “It’s true! Honestly in the beginning it bothered me when we were in the talking stages, but I quickly got over it as I started to fall in love.”
