Savvy woman shows how you can keep the room warm for just £1.50 a day – and it’s all thanks to cheap buys from Amazon
A WOMAN has shared how a few bargain buys from Amazon have slashed the heating costs to just £1.50 a day.
The news come in time as the temperatures plummet to sub-zero overnight and Brits are struggling with the rising costs to keep their homes cosy.
According to data, it will now set you back by over £13 to keep the central heating on overnight for eight hours – or a staggering £94.08 for the week, The Sun reported earlier.
But luckily, if you’re finding it difficult to make the ends meet, one woman’s come to rescue with an easy hack that will slash the expenses.
According to Claire Appleton, the solution is an effective way to keep the room cosy for just £1.50 – and it’s all thanks to a few bargain buys from Amazon.
Taking to TikTok, the home interiors fan revealed how you can make a DIY bioethanol fireplace, a cost-effective and enviromentally-friendly way to enjoy the warmth and ambience of a real flame.
Experts have said that whilst a bioethanol fireplace may not be as powerful, ”it still provides a significant amount of heat and can easily warm up a small to medium-sized room”.
To make your own ”fake fire”, Claire demonstrated in the video, you will need a fire basket (she had snapped up one for £30), ceramic logs (£30), as well as the star of the show – bioethanol fluid, which cost her £36.99 for a whopping 12l.
”Cheap to run and actually heats your room,” Claire, from North Yorkshire, went on in the caption.
”We have no radiator in the room currently (need to get one) and trust me, it works.”
What’s more, the fake fireplace is also a great alternative to those who, like Claire, hate the mess regular logs leave.
Although, she added, it does smell ”a little”, Claire claimed the aroma is something you will get used to over time.

Another pro tip, according to one viewer, was letting the set-up cool down before topping it off with more fluid.
Dozens of people raced to comments to share their thoughts – however, not everyone was raving about the heating hack.
One, for example, said: ”I have one of these. Great heat off it but don’t be fooled it can only be used for around 40 minutes.”
Someone else chimed in: ”I have one of these. Great heat off it but don’t be fooled it can only be used for around 40 minutes.”
”I have like three of these and they are cute but don’t really put off much heat,” another penned.
”They guzzle the fluid and only last 40 – 50 mins,” a TikTok user insisted.
