Are Oasis reuniting for Liam Gallagher’s ‘Definitely Maybe’ tour?
EVER since Oasis split for good in the late noughties, there has always been hope from their millions of fans that they will reunite.
Now it looks like their loyal followers are getting their dream come true with a Liam Gallagher‘s Definitely Maybe tour – but will his brother Noel be joining him?
Are Oasis reuniting for Liam Gallagher’s Definitely Maybe tour?
On October 16, 2023, Liam Gallagher announced he would be going on a Defintely Maybe tour.
Taking to Instagram he said: “I’m bouncing around the house to announce the ‘Definitely Maybe’ Tour.
“The most important album of the ‘90s bar none. I wouldn’t be anywhere without it and neither would you, so let’s celebrate together LG x”
He will perform every track on Oasis’ 1994 album Definitely Maybe and some of their other greatest hits during shows in June 2024.
A press release promised other “fan favourites that could be performed from the other songs that were released during the Definitely Maybe era”, potentially including Whatever, Fade Away, Listen Up, and Sad Song.
What have the Gallagher brothers said about a possible reunion?
Noel Gallagher is yet to confirm whether he will be joining Liam on the tour.
The Gallagher brothers famously fell out in 2009 bringing Oasis to an end – with Noel quitting hours before the band were due to perform on stage.
At the time, he released a statement saying that he could no longer work with his brother.
Throughout the years, the brothers have subsequently taken aim at each other via headlines, interviews and social media.
A source close to Liam has shared that he is open for Noel to join, but their relationship is “still a long way off” as the brothers have been publicly feuding for more than a decade.
The source confirmed: “Liam is convinced he can recreate the magic of the first Oasis album, whether or not Noel is with him on stage.
“He’s played songs like Rock ‘n’ Roll Star with his new band and the crowd erupts.”
In 2018, Liam tweeted about an Oasis reunion, and said: “Earth to noel listen up rkid I hear your doing gigs where people can’t drink alcohol now that’s the BeZarist thing you’ve done yet I forgive you now let’s get the BIG O back together and stop f***ing about the drinks are on me LG x.”
Meanwhile, when asked in June 2023 about a possible reunion tour with his brother, Noel told NME: “Inevitably, it will happen.
“There’s never really been a serious offer about ‘The Big O’ getting back together, but there you go.”
What do we know about the Definitely Maybe tour so far?
The singer will perform the seminal album in full for the first time at gigs across the UK in 2024.
Released in August 1994, Definitely Maybe features Oasis classics including Rock ‘n’ Roll Star, Live Forever, Supersonic and Cigarettes & Alcohol – the songs that helped shape the Britpop era and propelled Liam and Noel to fame.
The Definitely Maybe 30 Years tour will be a rare opportunity to hear Liam sing tracks that have not performed since the mid-’90s, including Up In The Sky and Digsy’s Dinner.
It had been previously reported that Oasis guitarist Bonehead, real name Paul Arthurs, will join Liam, but this is yet to be confirmed.
