BBC fans rage ‘my childhood is ruined!’ as star shared behind-the-scenes footage of iconic kids’ show
BBC fans have been complaining that their childhood memories have been ruined after getting a glimpse behind the scenes of an iconic kids’ show.
Scoop was a popular comedy on CBBC which followed the exploits of bumbling journalist Digby Digworth and his dog sidekick Hacker.
But fans had some of the show’s magic ruined when Phil Fletcher shared a clip revealing how he controlled the furball off camera.
In the video the puppeteer was hiding behind a table and using two sticks to move Hacker T Dog’s mouth and arms.
Phil then provided the voice over for the character, bellowing: “Good morning CBBC HQ!
“Do you know what my favourite thing to do on a morning is? Have a kick about.”
Viewers were not happy to see the big reveal of who was behind their childhood favourite, and some hit out at the video on TikTok.
One wrote: “My whole childhood is ruined.”
Another agreed: “Childhood over.”
A third cried: “My whole life has been a lie!”
“Wait, I thought it was real,” moaned another fan.
Someone joked: “Wait. It’s not a real dog?”
The British puppeteer is also known for being the voice behind Sweep in kids’ show Sooty, and Larry the Lizard in the ITV sitcom Buffering.
