I can re-do moldy caulk in the shower so quickly – my final tip saves you from needing to buy anything
A DIY pro has shared his tips for quickly fixing moldy caulk in the shower.
He said that his final hack would save you from buying anything for your home repair.
TikToker JR Hoffman (@WarriorHouseDIY) said his goal is to help everyday people with “do-it-yourself home repair.”
JR said the first step is to “grab the right caulk for the job.” He chose Kwik Seal Plus.
He explained that the best way to get rid of moldy caulk is with two tools: A box cutter and a flat scraper.
Then it’s time to clean the infected surface.
“I use a white vinegar and water solution or any other antimicrobial spray to remove any of the gunk that’s left behind,” JR said.
“Then it’s time to install our new caulk,” he added.
“Choose the style of tube you’re gonna use and cut off just enough of the tip to create a small bead,” JR noted.
After the new caulk was laid, JR tried to use a popsicle stick to smooth the extra material.
The method didn’t work for his project.
“It takes off a little bit too much,” he said, before sharing his preferred technique.
JR likes to use his finger and some water to smooth the caulk.
“You don’t even have to buy anything for this,” he noted.
“All we’re doing is just floating over the surface It’s kind of artistic in a sense, not to remove too much caulk,” he said about the process.
“With a wet finger, it won’t even stick to your skin,” JR finished. “Tube of caulk, a glass of water, and your finger. That’s all you need.”
