Millie Bobby Brown says she’s ready for ‘Stranger Things’ to end: ‘Thank you, and goodbye’
The final season of “Stranger Things” will start production once the actors’ strike comes to an end. But for star Millie Bobby Brown, that resolution likely can’t come soon enough.
Speaking to Glamour in an interview published Monday, Brown compared finishing the Netflix blockbuster to graduation.
“When you’re ready, you’re like, ‘All right, let’s do this. Let’s tackle this last senior year. Let’s get out of here,’” she said. “‘Stranger Things’ takes up a lot of time to film and it’s preventing me from creating stories that I’m passionate about. So I’m ready to say, ‘Thank you, and goodbye.’”
Brown praised “Stranger Things” for giving her “the tools and the resources to be a better actor,” but said she wasn’t sad about moving on to something new. “When it ends, I’m going to be able to still see these people,” she said of her castmates.
Brown was the big breakout star of “Stranger Things” when the show premiered on Netflix in 2016. She plays the mysterious Eleven on the Ross and Matt Duffer series, the key figure in the show’s fight between good and evil.
Now 19, Brown has expressed interest in leaving the show’s Hawkins, Indiana home behind in previously published interviews. Back in August, speaking to Women’s Wear Daily, Brown said it was time for the show to end.
“I think I’m ready. It’s been such a huge factor in part of my life, but it’s like graduating high school, it’s like senior year,” she said. “You’re ready to go and blossom and flourish and you’re grateful for the time you’ve had, but it’s time to create your own message and live your own life.”
The fifth and final season of “Stranger Things” is currently being worked on – the show’s writers went back to it after the writers’ strike ended in September – but production won’t begin until the actors settle with the studios. It’s not yet clear when the final season will debut on Netflix, but it could be as late as 2025.
