This Morning star says she’s ‘closer’ to replacing Holly on show saying ‘I don’t need to be quietly ambitious anymore’
A PLACE In The Sun star Jean Johansson has revealed she’s “one step closer” to bagging her dream job.
It has always been the Channel 4 star’s dream to host This Morning, and she got her foot in the door as she presents some of the competitions.
But it seems that Jean, 41, has her eye on a position on the sofa as one of the ITV programme’s main faces.
She exclaimed: “I’m now the proud competitions host, I just knew it was meant to be.
“My first competition was in my home area of Inverclyde. It was a really special moment.
“I’m hoping this is just the start, I’ve been really honest about my ambitions to get on the sofa one day and I’m one step closer.”
It seems she may just be a contender as she insists that she already has good chemistry built with one of the star names of the long-running magazine programme.
The TV presenter admitted: “Everyone has been supportive and that’s not always the case in TV.”
“It’s been great to work closely with Josie Gibson. We’ve been friends for years and she’s got so much warmth.”
And Jean has called for more diversity on television, and she thinks that she is in a position to speak up more.
“But there needs to be more working class people in front of the camera and behind it, more people of colour, more LGBTQ+ people. There’s still a way to go,” she explained.
“I’m at an age now where I don’t need to be quietly ambitious anymore. I know what I, and others, deserve.”
But Jean is still thankful for the opportunities that she has, as one of the presenters of A Place In The Sun.
Jean commented: “When I first auditioned for the show, I didn’t get it and I was completely devastated.
My agent at the time told me the opportunity would never come up again. Presenters never leave – look at Jasmine Harman, Laura Hamilton and Scarlette Douglas.
“But I just had a feeling that it would happen for me, and it did.”
And the star has gladly admitted that she would love to present a celebrity version of the show to help some of Britain’s biggest names find their dream property abroad.
She said: “Eamonn Holmes in particular is a big fan and footballers ask for help to look for a property.
“It’d be great to do a celeb version so, Channel 4, if you’re reading, this is my pitch!”
