I work in Tesco and filled my boot with toys in 75% off sale – fuming shoppers say I’m the reason there’s none left
A SUPERMARKET worker managed to fill her entire boot with toys for under £100 after doing a huge sale haul in store.
Karen, who works in Tesco, bagged £340 of toys for just £74.70 – saving £257 thanks to shelf reductions, and an extra £8.30 off with her staff discount.
She picked up a £20 Sonic flying heroes for a fiver and two Play-Doh sets for £8 in the Dundee store.
Karen also bagged a £27 Paw Patrol truck for £6.75, Lol surprise sets for £3.25 and several dolls.
Posting a picture of her huge haul on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group, she said: “Tesco bargains today.
“Right place, right time. They were reduced on the shelf by 75 per cent.”
Despite hoping to help other bargain hunters by sharing her find on social media, Karen instead faced backlash from angry shoppers simply because she works in the supermarket.
One said: “[You’re the] reason why there’s nowt left.”
A second wrote: “To be fair you’re a college so I am sure you can get the low down on when the prices go down.”
A third added: “The people who work there like this person take [the bargains] first.”
“Right place, right time?”, a fourth fumed.
“You work there so obviously you’re first to grab bargains.”
But Karen insisted she had been unaware the toys were going to be heavily discounted, and only stumbled across them while shopping with her grandson.
Hitting back at the haters, she said: “Jealous or what.
“Will have to get [my grandson] a name badge ordered as he obviously works there with me. Sad, sad people.”
She added: “I didn’t know [about the offer]. I only work weekends and was in doing my weekly shop.
“I got some bargains while shopping with my grandson, last time I’ll be letting anyone know.”
And others have encouraged her to ignore the trolls, congratulating the gran on her haul.
“Well done on the bargains, don’t let other people get you down.” one insisted.
A second echoed: “Excellent bargains, well done.”
Meanwhile, a third added: “Wow, well done you.”
