Inside ‘heartbroken’ Zara McDermott’s plan to stay in Strictly after dance off drama as she jets back from Ibiza
ZARA McDermott has come up with a plan to stay on Strictly Come Dancing after facing the dreaded dance off.
The former reality star-turned documentary maker was stunned last week as she found herself battling to stay in the competition.
Zara, 26, was in the bottom two with her pro partner Graziano Di Prima alongside BBC Radio DJ Nikita Kanda.
However, she survived the elimination after the judges sent home Nikita, 28.
And now Zara has been messaging everyone she knows personally asking if they’ll ring her Strictly phone number off the hook to keep her in because it broke her heart to be in the dance off.
A source told The Sun: “Zara got a massive fright being in the bottom two last week.
“In fact, she was heartbroken. She made it her mission to get in touch with as many of her high-profile friends as possible to spread the word about voting.
“She asked lots of people with influence to make sure they were ringing off the hook during Saturday night’s vote.
“She knows she has a lot of followers, but if they don’t pick up the phone to vote then she’s going to be in the dance off again.
“Zara’s having the time of her life and is desperate to stay for as long as possible.”
During Saturday’s live show Zara emotionally addressed the ‘difficult’ week she had following the result.
She told host Claudia Winkleman: “I think I could have let it get me down this week, or I could have used it as a way to find a bit more fire and I have worked so hard this week.”
Zara survived the dance off this week, thanks to her her impressive Viennese waltz.
However, Sunday’s results show saw Jody Cundy sent packing from the ballroom.
