‘The Crown’ final season: First images of Prince William and Prince Harry debut
Netflix revealed new images from the final season of “The Crown” on Monday, one month before the first half of the show’s sixth season makes its debut.
The new images feature the show’s main cast – including Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana and Dominic West as Prince Charles – as well as the first look at the young actors who play Prince William and Prince Harry in the first part of Season 6.
Season 6 Part One will premiere on November 16 and focuses on Diana and Charles in the aftermath of their divorce. (It’s assumed the first batch of episodes will end with Diana’s death.) Rufus Kampa plays Prince William in Part One while Fflyn Edwards plays Prince Harry. In Part Two, which comes out on December 14, Ed McVey plays Prince William while Luther Ford portrays Prince Harry. Actress Meg Bellamy stars as Kate Middleton.
In addition to the photo of the young princes, Netflix also debuted another image of Debicki, an Emmy nominee for Season 5, in the new batch of episodes.
“I was really looking forward to Season 6, because there was a chunk of the story where I was not going to be as alone,” she said to the Netflix editorial site Tudum. “For me, in terms of an overarching journey, one of the things that felt so important –– because we know where the story is going –– is to make sure that there was real joy and happiness and lightness and genuine fun on the screen.”
At the 2023 Emmy Awards, which will take place in 2024, the fifth season of “The Crown” will compete for Best Drama Series, one of its six total nominations. The final season of the show will be eligible for Emmy consideration in 2024. All told, the drama hit has won 21 Emmy Awards thus far, including Best Drama Series in 2021.
