Madonna Kicks off ‘The Celebration Tour’ in London With Mirrored Boots, Crystal Heels & More
Madonna brought sleek statement style — while mastering the art of self-reference — to London to begin her “Celebration Tour.”
On Saturday, the musician performed at the O2 Arena for the occasion, kicking off her first concert in a set of slick black boots. Her tall style featured narrow toes, angled soles and thin heels, all cinched by thin white laces. The shoes were paired with fishnet tights and a lace-trimmed red silk slip dress, leaning into Madonna’s use of all three elements in her longtime boudoir-themed attire over the years.
In another set, the singer revived her iconic cone bra by Jean Paul Gaultier, seen in a black iteration atop a quilted, bead-trimmed black dress with long embellished gloves. Madonna’s sleek outfit was further elevated with fishnet tights, as well as another set of bold shoes: narrow-heeled pumps with a lace-up front and two thin buckled ankle straps. However, the set earned a glamorous boost from a coating of allover silver crystals, which glittered and sparkled when catching the light.
Madonna’s glitzy footwear was also seen while she later performed with daughter Estere Ciccone — who vogue’d for her mother and older sister, Lourdes Leon (both judges gave her a perfect “10” score). The singer truly made her show a family affair, also performing with daughter Mercy James and son David Banda, who respectively played the piano and guitar onstage.
In her high-shine concert finale, Madonna took to the stage in a set of dynamic boots: a calf-high style with mirrored silver uppers. The set added a shining base to her equally bold outfit: a black gloved catsuit, which was covered in geometric reflective shards to mimic the appearance of a shattered mirror.
Madonna is renowned for her edgy and groundbreaking personal style, both in her own right and as a muse for designers including Ford, Jean Paul Gaultier and Jeremy Scott. Her footwear follows an equally sleek and edgy route, often consisting of pointed-toe and platform pumps and boots on the red carpet from brands including Christian Louboutin, Stella McCartney and Chanel.
Off-duty, Madonna can be seen in a range of sneakers and boots from brands including Nike and Puma. A frequent Met Gala attendee, she is known for making bold fashion statements and has also launched her own fashion projects over the years. These have included an M by Madonna H&M collection (2007), the MDG sunglasses line with Dolce & Gabbana (2010), teen fashion line Material Girl (2010), and a fashion line, Truth or Dare (2011) — with shoes created in partnership with Aldo.
