Four busted for organized retail theft at Walnut Creek’s Broadway Plaza
A 38-year-old Fairfield man and three others were arrested and jailed last week in Walnut Creek on suspicion of retail theft.
Charles Allen Jr. and the others were arrested on a variety of charges, then booked into Contra Costa County Jail in Martinez, according to Walnut Creek Police Lt. Holley Connors, who posted the information on Facebook.
The others were Deoni Johnson Jr., 27, of Sacramento; Darijanna Roberson, 24, of Reno, Nevada; and Anthony Bradley II, 32, of Oakland.
According to Connors, police dispatchers on Oct. 18 received information of two organized retail thefts that occurred at the Santa Rosa and Napa Lululemon stores.
The information was obtained by the department’s officer stationed in Broadway Plaza, an upscale shopping center at 1275 Broadway Plaza, in partnership with retail loss-prevention employees. The information included photographs of the suspects and their vehicles.
Additional information gathered by the Broadway Plaza officer indicated a likelihood the suspects in those thefts might be coming to the Walnut Creek store to return stolen merchandise, Connors said in the Friday post.
At approximately 2:45 p.m., several of the suspects were observed inside the Lululemon store in Broadway Plaza, and officers detained four suspects without incident.
During the investigation, more than $10,000 worth of stolen merchandise was recovered from the suspects’ vehicles.
Allen was arrested on suspicion of possessing burglary tools and a probation violation; Johnson and Roberson on suspicion of organized retail theft, possessing stolen property, and conspiracy to commit a crime.
Bradley was arrested on an out-of-state warrant, and a check of Contra Costa County Jail records on Tuesday indicated he remains in custody. The other three appear to be out of custody.
In the post, Connors wrote: “We are thankful for the relationships WCPD has formed with our retail partners and allied law enforcement agencies. This has led to an enhanced response to organized retail crime, which often involves groups committing crimes in multiple jurisdictions.”
