Countryfile’s Adam Henson admits he ‘cried a lot’ on wedding day following wife Charlie’s shock cancer diagnosis
ADAM Henson has admitted he ‘cried a lot’ on his wedding day following his wife’s shock cancer diagnosis.
The beloved Countryfile star, 57, popped the question to Charlie as she battled the disease.
She felt ill for over three months before finally receiving the terrifying news that she had a 4.5cm tumour.
And speaking about the big day, Adam told the Mirror: “We cried a lot, those vows cemented my emotions and let me say from the heart how I feel about Charlie.
“The registrar wasn’t aware of our situation and said she’d never had such an emotional couple, for us, it was a way of saying goodbye to everyone.”
The BBC presenter and farmer also revealed the ceremony had just their family and close friends.
The loved up couple already have two grown up children together – Ella, 25 and Alfie, 21.
Adam recently opened up on the effect of Charlie’s pancreatic cancer battle, admitting it was as “huge shock”.
He said: “It was a huge shock. By nature, I’m a pragmatist, which probably comes from being a farmer.
“I deal in facts, and I work out what can be done, but in this situation, I was totally lost.”
Charlie said that after finding out about her condition, getting married to Adam became “the most important thing in the world” to her.
“It’s ridiculous but I really, really wanted everyone to know how much I love Adam,” the emotional wife shared. “Most importantly, I wanted him to know. It was suddenly such a big thing.”
Thankfully Charlie is now in recovering and has even been able to return to television.
