Beauty fans totally mortified as popular 2010s make-up trend is making a comeback – but not everyone will give it a go
THIS is not a drill – according to beauty fans, a once popular 2010s make-up trend has returned and people are mortified.
Over the last few months, we’ve seen many old trends making a comeback – the ugly 2000s-inspired disc belt returning to Urban Outfitters or the so-called slouch boots, which offer virtually no support to your feet.
But just when you thought things couldn’t possibly get any worse, the social media influencer and model Sofia Richie Grainge brings back the infamous concealer lips.
Yes, you read it correctly. The make-up trend we prayed we’d never see again.
Around 2010s, it was extremely popular – we’re not entirely sure why – to ditch nude lipsticks and swap them with a concealer pout instead.
Not only did it make for a rather ghostly and unhealthy appearance, make-up fans also skipped any gloss, as a matt look was all the rage back then.
However, before like many you shout in sheer horror, there’s a little thing to know – the horrific concealer lips are back here… with a little twist.
The stunner, the daughter of the one and only Lionel Richie, has a slightly different interpretation to the 2010s look.
Rather than covering her lips with a pale concealer, the 25-year-old put a dab of the undereye essential in the middle of her lips, creating highlighter-like effect.
The result, she demonstarted to her followers on TikTok, was an ombré effect, which also gave the pout a fuller illusion – and some even claimed it looked ”chic”.
But although Sofia looked incredible and fans were sent into a frenzy, not everyone will be racing to give it a go.
”Stop this madness,” is how one fashion and style lover, Erin Miller, felt about the concealer lippy.

”Concealer lips, velour tracksuits, celebrity drama… WHAT IS HAPPENING,” a baffled social media user wanted answers.
”I didn’t foresee people calling concealer lips chic in 2023 but here we are,” a third chimed in.
Someone else agreed, adding: ”Absolutely not. Urgh.
”I skipped this trend the first time and refuse to do it now.”
”Will not be participating in this trend, nope,” a beauty lover wrote.

Speaking of all things beauty, a woman recently revealed why you should never put your hair in the viral slick back bun – as she now faces the dire consequences.
Urging others to ”stop doing the clean girl hair”, the woman, named Basicela, explained that the tight hairstyle could lead to hairloss.
”I always felt the most comfortable when my hair was out of my face,” Basileca said in the video where she also demonstrated the balding patches.
According to her, there are two main issue with the slick look – the hair bobble, as well as the tension from the constant pulling.
The TikTok user, who posts under the username @basicela, explained that because you have to wrap the hair tie more than once or twice, this will lead the hair to snap over time.
”Number two, when you have a very slick hairstyle, you’re pulling your hair constantly,” she said, noting that growing hair from where it’s getting pulled is ”very difficult”.
Wanted to opt for the low bun instead? Even this classy look will lead to issues, the beauty whizz warned.
”Low buns will cause your hairline to become wider and wider.
”My trichologist told me that there are so many young girls right now that he treats that have exactly that problem because of the hairstyle they did.
”That means if someone is taller than you that’s the first thing they see because they look from above or when you sit down – it’s just very visible.”
