DAVID Beckham is heading for dinner with the King — after cutting ties with Prince Harry.
The ex-England star, 48, has accepted an invitation for talks with Charles on becoming a celebrity ambassador for a royal charity.
In particular, Goldenballs is being wooed in the hope he can sprinkle a little stardust on the Prince’s Foundation, which provides skills training to youngsters.
Becks had served a similar role for Harry’s Invictus Games but has distanced himself from the Sussexes since they moved to the US and trashed the Royal Family.
An insider said: “It’s an open secret that David wants a knighthood one day and many people have questioned why he isn’t a Sir after all he’s done — and linking up with the King rather than Harry would certainly help.”
David was made an OBE for services to football 20 years ago while ex-Spice Girl wife Victoria, 49, was appointed an OBE in 2017 for services to the fashion industry.
But in 2013 his chances of higher honours were dented by involvement in a tax avoidance scheme.
His meeting with the King could take place in Scotland at the foundation’s base, Dumfries House.
Our source added: “The King wants to suss out whether he and David can work together and explore potential projects and find out if they share any common ground.”
