My Zara top looked perfect on the hanger but a disaster on me – I wasn’t prepared for the weird underboob
A TRENDSETTER was left gobsmacked after experiencing a fashion failure while trying on clothes at Zara.
She had high expectations for a stylish pink cut-out top that she brought into the fitting room at the women’s clothing store.
Evangeline Fairbrother (@evangelinetopaz) boasts over 41,000 followers on TikTok, where she shares outfit inspiration and shopping hauls.
She took to the social media platform to try on a selection of pink items spotted while browsing the rails in Zara.
She was eager to try on a strapless pink top that featured a cut-out design below the breasts.
The top is no longer available to purchase from the brand but has been listed by previous owners on eBay and Depop for $60-$80.
“Zara on the hanger vs. on me [smiling with tear emoji],” read the text over Evangeline’s video.
She looked baffled when she put the top on with a white skirt as the cut-out section wasn’t noticeable.
“Hahaha dead [laughing],” the text continued.
She tried to pull the top up to adjust it but started to get a weird underboob look as the cut-out still didn’t go in the right place.
The fashionista placed her hand over her mouth in shock as she collapsed into laughter.
Evangeline captioned the post: “Zara on the hanger vs. on me [laughing] you aren’t ready for this one haha!”
She revealed that she tried to size down to an XS because of the mishap but couldn’t even get the top to close.
The video went viral with over 8.6 million views, 402,000 likes, and a flood of comments from people claiming to have had similar experiences when shopping at Zara.
One person wrote: “Zara is the only store you can pick out 10 items to try on and leave with none.”
Another penned: “I’m so relieved this is a shared experience and not just a problem with my body.”
A third said: “Zara is for people with a longer torso so if you have anything like average or shorter then none of their clothing will fit.”
A fourth said: “I’ve learned with Zara you REALLY have to try on everything before you purchase.”
Another added: “Hahaha you made my day, I love you. You are more beautiful than the hanger.”
The disappointing shopping experience comes after another TikToker suffered a similar mishap when buying clothes.
Kelsie (@kelsies_world96) has over 187,000 followers who look to her for style inspiration that flatters fuller figures.
The shopaholic admitted that she got herself into debt to buy a top from Boohoo as she claimed it would be her last try-on haul for a while.
Her excitement over the “cute” white off-the-shoulder top soon turned to frustration because she couldn’t get it to go past her breasts.
She said: “It’s stretchy at the back. This is my size but for some reason, it’s really tight and I can’t explain it. There’s no give in it.
“People ask me where I shop, I don’t shop at Boohoo. I just thought let’s give it a go but no never again.
“I’m not real happy about it, to be honest. They are just… I’m not even going to go into it.”
