Welcome to the Bay Area News Group (Mercury News & East Bay Times) girls Athlete of the Week poll.
For the entire academic year, we will provide a list of candidates who stood out over the previous week and allow you, the reader, to vote for the winner.
This week, we consider performances from Oct. 23-28.
Polls close at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Vote as many times as you’d like until then without using bots or any other artificial methods of voting.
Votes by email and any votes after 5 p.m. on Wednesday are not counted.

Winners are announced each Friday online and in the print edition of the Mercury News and East Bay Times sports sections.
Candidates for future Athlete of the Week polls can be nominated at highschools@bayareanewsgroup.com.
We accept nominations until 11 a.m. each Monday.
We also review stats submitted to MaxPreps by coaches/team statisticians.
On to the nominees:
Jillian Amaro, Sacred Heart Prep volleyball: Amaro, a senior, had 22 assists in SHP’s 3-1 victory over St. Ignatius in the first round of the CCS Open Division playoffs. That gave the setter 216 assists on the season.
Eden Barnes, Berkeley water polo: Barnes, a junior, scored 10 goals and had one assist in a 15-7 victory over Piedmont. It was Barnes’ season-high in goals during a game, surpassing her previous high of seven vs. San Leandro.
Jordan Bouton, Sobrato volleyball: Bouton, a sophomore, had 28 assists, three kills and nine aces in a CCS first-round victory over Pioneer. Sobrato advanced to the second round of the Division II playoffs.
Kate Brongiel, Granada flag football: Brongiel, a junior, caught seven passes for 149 yards and three touchdowns in two games at the EBA tournament.
Izzy Klugman, Menlo School tennis: Klugman, a junior, won in straight sets at No. 2 singles as Menlo swealyspt Notre Dame-Belmont, and then didn’t drop a set against her Harker opponent to help the Knights clinch a perfect record in WBAL play.
Alyssa Lim, James Logan golf: Lim, a junior, won her second consecutive NCS golf championship when she shot a 66 at the Metropolitan Golf Links course.
Quinn Shirley, Aragon flag football: Shirley, a junior returned an interception for a touchdown in Aragon’s 21-12 victory over Woodside. Aragon coach Barbara Beaumont said “Quinn Shirley was a defensive machine.”
Ali Cook, San Ramon Valley volleyball: Cook, a junior, had a team-high three aces to go along with 18 digs and eight serve receptions in a 3-0 victory over California. The Danville school advanced to a NCS Divison I semi-final playoff game against Marin Catholic.
Millie Wang, Saratoga golf: Wang, a sophomore, shot three under par 68 to medal at the SCVAL league championship. The league’s sophomore of the year will represent Saratoga at the CCS tournament.
Sophia Weise, Northgate water polo: Weise, a senior, scored two goals and had one assist in a 7-1 victory over Alhambra. That effort gave Weise a total of 64 goals and 17 assists on the season.
Taylor Williams, St. Francis volleyball: Williams, a senior, had a team-high 12 kills in St. Francis’ first round victory over Menlo-Atherton in the CCS Open Division playoffs. The Lancers are the defending CCS and NorCal champions.
