When hotels first began to appear in Williamsburg, the prime real estate was down by the waterfront, with its panoramic views of the Manhattan skyline and proximity to Bedford Avenue’s bars and eateries. Brave, then, to open a new hotel on the other side of the BQE, close to the border of East Williamsburg—an area that still retains the grizzled charm of old Brooklyn.
