I live in Tesla Model Y full-time – I hardly spend a penny keeping motor going & ‘hidden’ feature is a winter life-saver
A SOLO traveller who lives on the road in a Tesla Model Y revealed a winter life-saving hidden feature and how it keeps her cosy.
Adventurer Ahnika has travelled thousands of miles in her EV – and explained why it’s more beneficial than a camper van.
In a video posted to TikTok by @girlypoptravels, Ahnika shared the benefits of living on the road in a Tesla with her four-legged friend Lotus.
“Here are three reasons why I chose to live in a Tesla over a van,” she said.
“The most significant reason for me is free charging. I have travelled across the U.S and Canada and barely paid a dime.”
But, drivers were shocked to discover Tesla’s little-known Tesla’s Dog and Camp modes.
“This is essential as I travel with my dog,” added Ahnika.
“Tesla has a Dog mode which keeps the cabin at a desired temperature and locks all the windows.
“Camp mode keeps the heat on while I sleep.”
This comes as other campers are forced to turn to alternative, cheap heating sources in their vans and cars.
Some use electric blankets, layers of thermal clothing and Reflectix on their windows.
Others find warmth from candles, weighted blankets and hand warmers.
Meanwhile, Ahnika loves camping in Elon Musk’s popular EV for another reason, and said: “Being a solo female traveller means that I have to be very conscious of my safety at all times.
“I have cameras running 24/7, and anyone coming near my car without a key will see this [recording] message pop up.”
A bonus benefit included the fact that not many people would expect find someone camping in a Tesla.
This comes as other people ditch their conventional homes and opt for a life on the road.
A fellow female traveller shared how she transformed her van into a tiny home on wheels and revealed her DIY heating tips.
Alyssa Jo, known as the solo travel gal on social media, shared the simple ways to keep warm on a budget this winter.
Plus, another woman revealed she lives in a van and absolutely loves it because she can travel and save money.
Vin, who posts on TikTok under the username @notallwhowanderarelostt, said she doesn’t care that people call her “homeless”, and enjoys nomadic lifestyle.
Meanwhile, a girl who sleeps in her car during freezing winters has shared a nifty gadget to stay warm.
Jacqueline, aka the RVA Hiker Girl, revealed how she keeps it toasty while camping out in her SUV.
