The Internet Has Been Quick to Call Out the One Thing Missing from Walmart’s Iconic 'Mean Girls' Reunion Ad
If you’ve already had the chance to watch Walmart‘s newest Mean Girls–inspired ad, than you know the unexpected reunion is like a dream come true. An early Christmas gift, if you will.
In the commercial, which stars many of the 2004 movie’s stars including Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Seyfried, Lacey Chabert, Daniel Franzese and Rajiv Surendra, the former “Plastics” are officially grown up living their adult lives. While Chabert’s character Gretchen Wieners is a mom to one of the popular girls in the school, Lohan’s Cady Heron is the school guidance counselor and Seyfried’s Karen Smith has lived out her dreams by becoming a weather reporter.
Noticeably absent from the ad, however, is North Shore’s Queen Bee Regina George, played by Rachel McAdams. “Where the hell was Rachel McAdams when they shot this mean girls commercial…” commented one user on X (formerly known as Twitter). “Where is Rachel McAdams? What happened? Where did you leave her? How could you do this without her?” wrote another upset fan.
According to one source to Page Six, however, McAdams was invited to join but declined the invitation. “Rachel McAdams didn’t want to do it,” the insider revealed. “They were all offered it. But the three of them loved being together for their reunion.”
“They had a great time talking about being moms, and it was definitely a loss not having Rachel there,” the source added. A loss to them and to us!
In the commercial, the three characters talk about Walmart’s Black Friday sales, which begin a little earlier than expected on Wednesday Nov. 8. “At North Shore, some things never change. On Wednesdays we still wear pink, but now we shop Walmart Black Friday deals,” Lohan says in the voice-over.
“This is going to be so fetch,” Chabert says while she’s seen filming her daughter and her friends doing a TikTok dance. “Stop trying to make fetch happen mom, it’s still not gonna happen,” her daughter replies.
“While girl world was at peace, deal world was just getting started,” Lohan says. We love to see it – great deals but even more exciting ads!
