LSDP TO TRANSFORM LAGOS TO ULTRAMODERN ECONOMIC DESTINATION
Honourable Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade & Investment, Mrs. Folashade Ambrose-Medebem has expressed that the Lagos State Development Plan (LSDP) is aimed at transforming Lagos into an ultramodern economic destination in Africa.
The Commissioner was part of the State Delegation, led by the Deputy Governor, Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, to the German–Nigerian Business Conference with the visiting German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz held in Lagos on Monday.
Speaking as a Panelist at the Conference, the Commissioner stated that the Lagos State Development Plan 2052 (LSDP 2052) is a 30-year Economic Development Plan that is centred on four cardinal pillars: Thriving Economy, Human-Centric City, Modern Infrastructure and Effective Governance.
Her words: “The LSDP, unveiled by the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the 9th edition of the Lagos Economic Summit, also known as Ehingbeti 2022 on 11th and 12th of October 2022, serves as a blueprint of how African megacities should be built”.
According to Ambrose-Medebem, the State has mapped out plans and resolutions after the two-day Economic Summit to ensure that it remains the number one investment point in Nigeria.
The Commissioner listed some of the plans and resolutions in the adoption of the Lagos State Economic Development Framework, which will be continuously communicated to the people to ensure everyone keys into it, including stepping up the drive for partnerships with the private sector and upskilling teachers to improve the education system since growing the economy, cannot occur under a moribund education system.
“The Plan also includes the setting up of a Diaspora Office and a Diaspora think-thank to cater to closing the gaps with those in the Diaspora. This will be in addition to setting up of Lagos Diaspora Mentoring Programme to explore brain gain as well as leverage technology to drive current investments, processes of governance and businesses, including workflow among others”, she said.
The Commissioner enjoined everyone to get a copy of the Lagos Investment Deal Book for information on investment opportunities in Lagos State and further urged them to visit the LSDP Portal: www.lsdp2052.com where the discussion on how to grow the State’s economy continues.
