Ex-Man Utd cult icon wakes up unemployed after being released by club following horror injury
CULT Manchester United hero Javier Hernandez faces an uncertain future after LA Galaxy released him following a serious injury suffered in June.
The former West Ham striker, 35, often known as Chicharito, was famed as a super-sub at Old Trafford from 2010-2015.
But the 109-cap Mexican has not played since damaging the ACL on his right knee against Real Salt Lake in the MLS five months ago.
And Galaxy are making the ex-Bayer Leverkusen star a free agent after his contract expired.
Hernandez had one of the Premier League’s best goals-per-minute ratios when with United.
But he was frustrated by his lack of starts and after a loan spell with Real Madrid he departed old Trafford eight years ago.
Now he’s bowing out at Galaxy after 82 games in four seasons, with just nine of those appearances from the bench – notching 39 goals and six assists.
But judging by an Instagram post Hernandez is determined to turn his misfortune to his advantage.
The former Sevilla hitman wrote: “Life becomes exciting when you allow yourself to change and evolve to new challenges.
“Thanks to everyone who was involved in my journey these 4 years.Thank you for everything @lagalaxy.”
