Strictly’s Annabel Croft reveals the show is helping to heal her hidden pain saying ‘it’s been a distraction from grief’
ANNABEL Croft has revealed the show is helping her heal from her hidden pain.
The former tennis player is one of the famous taking part in this year’s series of the BBC One dancing show.
With an intense training schedule for Strictly Come Dancing, it’s been a good distraction for the 57-year-old who lost her husband to cancer.
Mel Coleman sadly lost his battle with the disease earlier this year just weeks after being diagnosed.
For Annabel, his tragic passing is what encouraged her to say yes to the Beeb when they came knocking.
She told The Mirror: “I just love the fact that it just takes you away to a different place, trying something completely different, but also try and let go and try to be in the moment.
“We’re trying to get there, I don’t think I’ve got there yet.
“But try to feel the music and start to, once you’ve got the steps, then just to let go of everything and just dance and just be free in your spirit. And it is very joyful. It does take me back to my childhood a little bit.”
Annabel is partnered with Johannes Radebe on Strictly.
Viewers watched on Saturday as the pair danced a Tango to Need U Tonight by INXS for Halloween week.
She previously praised the 36-year-old and described him as the “most amazing human being”.
Annabel told him: “I have struck gold. Johannes is just the most amazing human being.
“You have the most amazing energy, incredible kindness and patience. You are an unbelievable dancer, but also an unbelievable teacher.”
Strictly Come Dancing continues on BBC One and iPlayer.
