Huge noughties show returning for reboot six years after last episode
A POPULAR noughties show is returning to screens with a reboot six years after the last episode aired.
It’s been announced that a new spin-off is being developed by Hulu.
Prison Break aired on FOX from 2005 to 2009 and briefly returned to the network in 2017 for a fifth season.
After almost 20 years, Prison Break is returning with a reboot, marking its comeback 17 years after the original series first aired.
Elgin James, who co-created the Sons of Anarchy spin-off Mayans M.C. is writing the project and it’s currently “in development”.
According to Variety the show will not have the same characters from the original series.
As a result, fan-favorite characters Michael Scofield, portrayed by Wentworth Miller, and Lincoln Burrows, played by Dominic Purcell, will not be making an appearance.
In November 2020, actor, Wentworth Miller took to Instagram to announce that he would not be coming back to the show.
Shortly after in 2021, Wentworth admitted he had autism.
At the time, the star took to Instagram to reveal the personal news to his fans in a lengthy statement.
He wrote alongside a blank white square: “Like everyone, life in quarantine took things from me. But in the quiet/isolation, I found unexpected gifts.
“This fall marks 1 year since I received my informal autism diagnosis. Preceded by a self-diagnosis. Followed by a formal diagnosis.
“It was a long, flawed process in need of updating. IMO. I’m a middle-aged man. Not a 5-year-old.”
He continued: “And (it’s a “both/and”) I recognize access to a diagnosis is a privilege many do not enjoy… Let’s just say it was a shock. But not a surprise.”
Prison Break is available on Amazon Prime Video, and seasons 1-5 are also available on Blu-ray and DVD.
