'Living rent free': GOP lawmaker lashes out against Kevin McCarthy in sign of infighting
She's moved on but he can't seem to let it go.
Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) relished the fact that former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) seems to be unable to give up on his grievances after being ousted from his speaker perch last month.
"I see I’m still living rent free in the former Speaker’s head," she posted on social media. "Suffice to say, I don’t really care what he has to say about me. We’ve all moved on, and he should too…"
The California politician showed his claws during an interview with CNN where he sounded off on some of his nemeses; namely Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and several other GOP colleagues (including Mace) that he called "disruptors" who sounded the rally cry to yank the gavel out of his hands after he tried to cut a debt deal to spare a government shutdown.
It was Mace's suspected two-faced actions when she joined Republican stalwarts to oppose him that stung the most.
He now thinks she will be sent home by her constituents when she runs for a third term next November.
“If you’ve watched her, just her philosophy, and the flip-flopping, I don’t believe she wins reelection,” he said.
Prior to her post, Mace told CNN that she possesses an “independent voice” and took some more shots at former speaker.
“I mean, this was a guy who lied all the time, like every day," she said. "I mean, he told conservatives he was absolutely gonna impeach Joe Biden.
"Two hours later, the same day, told moderates that he would never impeach Joe Biden, a guy like that can’t lead our country. And we’ve moved on to a much better speaker who’s honest and trustworthy and is going to tell the truth,” she said, referring to the newly minted Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA).
