‘LEGO Masters’ season 4 episode 7 recap: Who was eliminated in ‘Brick Chic’? [LIVE BLOG]
Tonight on “LEGO Masters,” call the fashion police because we’ve got an emergency! Teams have only eight hours to build luxurious bags that are both functional and runway-worthy by showcasing their creations in a photoshoot. Show-stopping bags will secure a coveted magazine cover and the fashion fails are at risk of elimination in the all-new “Brick Chic” episode of LEGO Masters airing Thursday, November 9 (9:01-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
With an infinite amount of LEGO bricks, the realm of possibilities is endless. These ambitious teams of two will battle it out for the chance to win a $100,000 cash prize, the ultimate LEGO trophy, the title of LEGO MASTERS and for the first time ever, the winning build will be turned into an actual LEGO set. Actor and executive producer Will Arnett hosts with Brickmasters Amy Corbett and Jamie Berard back as judges.
These are the teams still in the running for this year’s title: Allyson & Melanie (friends), Christopher & Robert (tech bros), Emilee & Kelly (competitive moms), Luis & Alex (teachers), Neena & Sam (mother/son) and Paul & Nealita (siblings). See all this season’s contestants in the gallery above.
9:00 p.m. — Previously on “LEGO Masters”! In episode 6, the builders ransacked a detective’s office and left with an item of their choice that they had to replicate into a one-to-one scale model. In the end, Neena & Sam were concerned about their area rug and implemented the golden brick to ensure their safety. Paul & Nealita earned their first win of the season for their telescope and Aubree & Ryan were eliminated for building a subpar vintage TV.
9:05 p.m. — The Top 6 teams enter the build room where they’re met with a “Brick Chic” sign and four different landscapes – one representing each season. Will explains they’ll be tasked with building functional, life-sized designer bags. In the end, they’ll compete in an epic photo shoot where the contestants themselves will be the models. Amy says she wants to see the contestants elevate LEGO bricks into “must have fashion items.” Jamie adds that the models must be strong enough for them to “pose and work it.” Who will land the cover or “Brick Chic”? They have eight hours.Get your brick on!
9:10 p.m. — The builders rush the set, hoping to grab the season of their choice. There are just two available slots for each season. Emilee & Kelly have Spring and they’re working on an asymmetrical handbag that has a logo, stitching and a pattern on the outside. Will thinks Jamie will like this. Kelly admits she had a former modeling career, posing in catalogue and print ads, so this should be right in her wheelhouse. Christopher & Robert are using Christopher’s mother as inspiration for their build. Meanwhile, Neena & Sam have the other Spring bag and mom plans to model this chic creation. She says, “We really want to put the emphasis on the bag and not the model.”
9:20 p.m. — Christopher & Robert are building a Fall leather leaf bag. They have a lot of ideas going on and Amy encourages them to whittle down their concept. Luis & Alex are working on a Summer beach bag with Miami flare to be modeled by Alex. With the beach scene available to them, he hopes to rock a Speedo. Paul & Nealita are the only team to choose Winter and they’re building a duffle bag. Maybe something you can even carry a dog around in! Allyson & Melanie are working on a Summer beach bag, but Amy immediately looks concerned. “We love that you’re going big,” she says, “But we really want to make sure we feel fashion.” Amy doesn’t want their beach bag to look like a cooler. Jamie is wondering how Melanie plans to hold it in her photo shoot. These two could be in trouble!
9:30 p.m. — With the realization that their bag is too big, Allyson & Melanie scrap their idea and decide to go smaller. When Will asks the Brickmasters who stands out so far tonight, Jamie says Christopher & Robert are creating a nice, clean shape. Paul & Nealita are going big, with an interesting shape, but Amy isn’t thrilled with their colors. Riding the struggle bus are Allyson & Melanie, who have taken their bag apart with just three hours to go. Riding in the middle are Luis & Alex, who have an ambitious build that could either have a wow factor or completely fail. Jamie comments on this risky endeavor that could land them in the bottom two or hand them their first win.
9:35 p.m. — Time has expired and it’s now time for the LEGO Masters Four Seasons Photoshoot! Each of the models gets into various poses with their bags made of LEGO bricks. The judges want high fashion! Will acts as creative director for this photo shoot, bringing out his inner diva and command of the stage. The boldest model is Alex, who is hitting the beach in his Speedo as promised. Following the photoshoot, each pair will present their bags to the judges and have their photos reviewed.
9:40 p.m. — Christopher & Robert are first with their Fall leaf bag. Christopher is easily the most entertaining person on this show, always killing it with his presentations. But he does take a moment this week to get vulnerable, dedicating this bag to his mother. Jamie is thrilled with their cover photo and parts usage. Next up are Allyson & Melanie with their Summer beach bag. Amy praises Melanie’s cover photo and the colors, but says it feels “quite square.” She struggles to see it as a real bag and not something made out of LEGO bricks.
9:45 p.m. — Luis & Alex are up next with their own Summer beach bag. Jamie applauds their “100 percent commitment” and Alex’s bold photoshoot. Amy loves the Miami inspiration, but Jamie notes it’s not fully functional. Next up are Emilee & Kelly with their Spring woven bag. Amy calls Kelly’s cover shot “absolute fire” and praises the design looking like woven fabric. Amy notes that the hinges are really showing, so it’s not constructed perfectly.
9:50 p.m. — Neena & Sam are up with their Spring messenger bag. Amy loves Neena’s cover photo and says the bag is center stage. She also praises their woven technique to create the bag. Jamie is impressed by how it’s constructed, but doesn’t think the strap looks functional. Last up are Paul & Nealita with their Winter duffle bag. Jamie says the camera loves Nealita and her photo is stunning, but the bag stands out as the selling point.
10:00 p.m. — The Brickmasters reveal the top two teams are Paul & Nealita and Christopher & Robert. But the winners of this challenge are Christopher & Robert! The bottom two teams are Luis & Alex and Allyson & Melanie. Both teams had multiple issues with their builds, but the team eliminated this week is Allyson & Melanie. They’re happy to have made it this far in the competition and Amy thanks them for sharing their love and passion for building.
