Popular horror franchise returning to Netflix three years on from first movie
A POPULAR horror franchise is set to return to Netflix three years after the first movie was released.
The streaming giant just confirmed that they’re making a follow-up to their epic horror movie trilogy from 2021.
In 2021, the Fear Street trilogy was made available on Netflix for three weeks in a row.
It was well-received by critics and viewers, creating hope for a possible sequel.
Now, Netflix has officially confirmed that Fear Street Part 4 will be returning soon, marking their first official announcement.
The streamer has confirmed that the sequel is currently in the works.
The film series, based on R.L. Stine’s books, follows separate but connected stories of teenagers battling a centuries-old curse in their town.
With each part set in a different year – 1994, 1978, and 1666 – fans can anticipate the continuation of the thrilling saga.
Director Leigh Janiak had plans for Fear Street 4 to be set in the 1950s and focus on the character of Harry Rooker, but there may be a change of direction.
“Obviously, there’s a lot of books. There’s one stand-alone that we’re working on right now that we’re once again trying to get the script right, but I like it very much, and so does the team,” Netflix boss, Scott Stuber said during a recent interview with Collider.
He continued: “So I feel like if we can get that script right there would be a great kind of extension of that franchise.”
Netflix’s plans for Fear Street 4 are still unclear, but Stuber’s hint of it being a “standalone extension” implies a move towards introducing new characters.
As well as, perhaps, moving away it away from the original trilogy.
