If TikTok’s aging filter has you in a chokehold, my free & affordable tips do 90% of the work to stop you looking older
A DERMATOLOGIST has shared free and affordable anti-aging tips to keep you looking young.
The doctor spoke out after the aging filter went viral on TikTok.
TikToker Dr. Lindsey Zubritsky (@dermguru), a board-certified dermatologist, created an anti-aging video.
The “Aged” filter, which makes people look 20 to 30 years older, has more than 25 million uses, according to TikTok.
“This filter clearly has a chokehold on all of us, so I’m gonna spill the tea,” Lindsey said.
The doctor said there are three tricks that will make a “huge difference in aging.” Her suggestions are “either free or relatively affordable.”
The first one on Lindsey’s list was something to avoid: tanning.
“Anytime our skin gets tan, that is actual DNA damage,” she said. “UV rays are easily the biggest offender in rapidly aging.”
The second on her list was another don’t. She said to avoid cigarette smoking or vaping.
“This causes an inflammatory response in our body and produces enzymes that break down the collagen in our skin, rapidly aging us,” she said.
For Lindsey’s last tip, she told her followers what they could do.
The doctor said people should follow a “consistent skincare routine with SPF and retinoids.”
“These two ingredients do 90% of the work when it comes to anti-aging,” she said. “Everything else after that is just a bonus.”
Lindsey’s claims have been backed up by multiple resources.
“There’s no such thing as a safe tan,” the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) wrote on their official website.
“The increase in skin pigment, called melanin, which causes the tan color change in your skin is a sign of damage,” they said.
Smoking can also cause people to age prematurely, according to WebMD.
