'Rich elitist snob': Former GOP lawmaker skewered for buying $114 turkey
A national security attorney posted on social media Tuesday a fun turkey thought challenge for the holidays: “Tell me you’re a rich elitist snob too obnoxiously disconnected from the rest of America to get a simple Butterball without telling me you’re telling me your a rich elitist snob too obnoxiously disconnected from the rest of America to get a simple Butterball.”
The subject? Former U.S. Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT), who took to the internet to share a photo of his $114, vegetarian-fed, minimally-processed gluten-free turkey.
While Chaffetz kept his X message short — “Happy Thanksgiving!” — the Fox News contributor went on air Monday night and blamed his high turkey price on the current U.S. President.
“It’s all a choice by Joe Biden,” Chaffetz declared. “That is what Bidenomics is.”

But critics of the former Utah Republican suggested it was Chaffetz’s choice to buy a massive 22-pound bird that weighed in at $4.99 per pound.
“He bought a California turkey, vegetable fed, no hormones, no preservatives,” wrote Mark Santana. “Hell he bought a liberal turkey.”
“What kind of Turkey were you buying?” demanded Cheesy Gordita Brett. “The country?”
“I just paid $14 for a 16lb turkey,” added @BlueKansas63. “Was his made of gold or something?”
Some suggested Chaffetz purchased the priciest bird money could buy to justify his Fox News rant about a $90 bird.
“I think he lied, got caught, then intentionally went out to buy the most expensive Turkey he could find,” wrote Logan Davis. “Blowing by his $90 claim."
Others delighted in Chaffetz's choice to procure a beast that had been minimally processed and raised without antibiotics.
Responded DarAlderson, "Looks pretty WOKE if ya ask me."
