Sports Briefs: Marin Catholic gears up for girls basketball season in Foundation win
Isabelle McFadden scored a team-high 26 points as the Marin Catholic girls basketball squad defeated Oakland Tech 50-41 in Tuesday’s Foundation Game. Cecily Hadd tallied 10 points for the Wildcats, who got five points from Maddy Dayton and four from Sienna Frazier.
• The Branson School defeated Analy 55-39 in Kentfield on Tuesday, with Avery Myerberg leading the way with 19 points, nine steals, eight rebounds and six assists. Julia St. John added 12 points and Paige Macy scored 10 points for the Bulls.
Boys basketball
San Domenico earned a 63-26 victory over host Healdsburg in Tuesday night’s Foundation Game. The Panthers defense held Healdsburg to single digits in every quarter. Gavin Early led San Domenico’s offense with 21 points and 10 rebounds.
• Gio Brovelli scored a team-best 20 points as San Rafael defeated Maria Carrillo in Tuesday’s Foundation Game. Luke Shapiro scored 14 points for the Bulldogs, who got 13 points from Anthony Tajbakhsh.
Men’s basketball
Marin Catholic grad Noah Deitch scored four points for Lake Forest in Tuesday’s 86-83 loss to Wisconsin’s Carroll University. Deitch also grabbed two rebounds and two steals for the Foresters (2-3).
• Another former Wildcat, Nick Greenwood, scored four points in George Fox’s 95-62 victory over LeTourneau on Tuesday. Greenwood scored 10 points for George Fox University in Saturday’s 116-44 win over Portland Bible.
Women’s basketball
Marin Catholic grad Alexa Greenwood grabbed two rebounds in Cal Lutheran’s 67-54 loss to Texas Lutheran on Tuesday.
