How Zara McDermott and Sam Thompson overcame cheating scandals and reality telly past to become TV’s newest power couple
UNLUCKY in love reality star Sam Thompson’s fortune changed when he met Love Island beauty Zara McDermott back in 2019.
The Made In Chelsea regular was bruised by two heart breaks on TV – and worried he wouldn’t find love.
But after sliding into Zara‘s DMs and cracking a few jokes, Sam swept Zara off her feet.
They’re now television‘s newest power couple having seen both of their careers soar over the past year.
It hasn’t been plain sailing for the reality star couple, however.
Zara recently confessed to bedding music boss Brahim Fouradi while on X Factor: Celebrity in 2019.
The drama played out on Made In Chelsea a year later – with Zara famously begging Sam to forgive her while sat on a park bench.
The pair broke up briefly, but Zara made it her mission to win Sam back.
The romantic sent her ex love letters and gifts, including a promise ring.
Sam finally gave into his feelings for Zara – but admitted he was “embarrassed” to take her back.
As time healed the infidelity, the couple’s relationship went from strength to strength – and they’ve never looked back.
Zara moved into Sam’s home, which is directly next door to his sister Louise who lives with her fiance Ryan and their son Leo.
The two couples are extremely close – seeing each other over the fence every day.
Zara admitted feeling “down” about her time on Strictly being over, but will soon be back at her usual job, being a documentary-maker with the BBC.
Zara was the 5th celebrity to leave the show with her dance partner Graziano Di Prima.
Soon after her exit, the spotlight turned to Sam as he was revealed as a campmate on this year’s I’m A Celebrity.
He’s in the jungle with the likes of politician Nigel Farage, Britney Spears‘ sister Jamie Lynn and JLS singer Marvin Humes.
Sam has already had fans in hysterics by confessing to being a JLS superfan to Marvin and learning the band’s dance moves.
He always cheered up tearful Jamie Lynn who was crying for her children by likening it to him missing his cats.
