Founded in 1947, Dr. Martens is a German-founded British footwear and apparel brand with individuality at its core. The company initially began making humble workwear boots and even sold their wear as gardening shoes at one point. The inventor of Dr. Martens, Klaus Marten, was a doctor in the German Army during World War II. The brand’s name references the inventor’s former profession.
