50-year-old Ichiro Suzuki pitched a complete-game shutout on 116 pitches against a high school girls team today. He had nine strikeouts, topping out at 86 MPH

- Jon Morosi believes that the Mariners are a potentially strong fit for recently-posted starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto.

- The Cardinals added additional depth to their starting rotation by inking right-hander Kyle Gibson to a one-year deal.
- The White Sox are closing in on a one-year contract with infielder Paul DeJong.
- The Padres announced the hiring of Mike Shildt as their manager for 2024. It’s Shildt’s second stint as MLB skipper — he won Manager of the Year with the Cardinals in 2019.
- The Red Sox brought former reliever Andrew Bailey on board to serve as the team’s new pitching coach.
- Former big league manager Brad Ausmus has been hired by the Yankees to serve as the team’s new bench coach.
- The Cubs promoted Jared Banner to the role of assistant general manager. Banner previously oversaw player development for the organization.
- Former Mariners hitting coach Tim Laker now has a prominent role with the enemy.
The Angels have also hired Tim Laker a new title of offensive coordinator.

- Former MLB MVP and Cy Young winner Willie Hernández passed away Monday at the age of 69.
- The Dodgers were ordered to pay $100K in damages to a fan who was beaten by stadium security on Opening Day in 2018.
