US Park Police officer seriously injured in Northwest, DC shooting

It happened in the area of 12th Street and M Street NW at around 2:30 p.m., according to D.C. Fire and EMS.
U.S. Park Police described it as an “officer-involved shooting,” but did not provide further details. A spokesperson for the department told WTOP that one of the people injured in the shooting is an officer.
Both people were taken to the hospital in serious condition, authorities said.
Police are expected to give more information at a news conference. WTOP has a reporter at the scene.
