I bought 36 bread rolls & and they exploded in my kitchen, I was left with a ‘hippo,’ Thanksgiving’s off to a good start
A BUSY mom has shared the hilarious moment her bag of dinner rolls exploded ahead of Thanksgiving dinner.
She explained that the cooking mishap with her bake-and-serve bread rolls happened after she forgot to put them in the freezer.
Amy (@amymcgriff) routinely shares her love of food and sweet moments with her family on TikTok.
She took to the social media platform to reveal why she was forced to quickly change her plans for their Thanksgiving meal.
“So in case you were wondering what an exploded bag of dinner rolls looks like when you forget to put it in the freezer before you go bowling this is it,” she said.
Amy shared a huge pile of dough that had torn through the packaging on her Rhodes dinner rolls.
According to the manufacturer’s website, the bread rolls should be stored in the main compartment of the freezer until they are ready to be baked.
This prevents the active ingredient yeast, which makes bread rise, from being “damaged and deactivated.”
Amy struggled to hold back her laughter as she realized her mistake and looked at the dough which had no resemblance to bread rolls.
“I just want to clarify this is the 36-roll pack so you might not get the same effect if you buy a smaller bag of rolls,” she said.
“So I’m thinking I’m not going to let that dough go to waste. I’m just going to bake it and see how it turns out.
“If you’re new to cooking don’t try this at home.”
The mom was in fits of laughter after seeing the unsightly look of the bread after she removed it from the oven.
“It seriously looks like a hippo, there is even an eye,” she joked.
“We’re going to try and pretty this boy up with some butter, butter makes everything better.
“There we have it, 32 rolls makes a hippo bread.
“It looks pretty good, what do you think?”
She shared a snap of the giant bread after it had been sliced and ready to serve at dinner.
She captioned the post: “Thanksgiving off to a good start! [laughing].”
Amy included the hashtags #funny and #bakingdisasters which helped the video to quickly get hundreds of views.
Commenters were amused by the situation and suggested that everyone “grab a chunk” at the dinner table.
The Thanksgiving cooking disaster comes after another woman was torn about attending dinner with her in-laws.
The pregnant mom took to Reddit venting about being asked to pay $200 worth of food stamps toward the cost of the meal.
She complained that her husband wants to attend the pricey dinner, while she would rather that they stay at home and cook for themselves.
Many people responded to the post reassuring her that she shouldn’t pay for the food at their Thanksgiving gathering.
One person wrote: “Let your husband go alone and enjoy the time with your child. It’s one thing to ask guests to bring a side dish or two.
“It’s something else entirely to demand to host the meal and then require your guests to pay for the food.
“If you wanted to buy a Thanksgiving meal, there are restaurants you can eat at with better food for much less money.”
