CIBC, WIBISCO reward St George students for act of kindness
St George Secondary students Christian Whitehall and Shakayla Riley-Sealy were rewarded for their service earlier this month.
At assembly on Friday morning, representatives of CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank and WIBISCO presented the teenagers with two bank accounts and bags filled with goodies, bottles, speakers and other accessories.
During the presentation Director of Retail Banking Channels Michelle Whitelaw said the students had to be commended for attempting to rescue 78-year-old Michael Herman who fell in a ditch while walking through Bridgetown.
“It is not often that we hear about young people who will go out of their way to help an older [person], especially a complete stranger. They could have walked on by, intent on getting home on time, but that would have left him there in the ditch . . . and that is why I call them heroes,” Whitelaw said.
Brand manager at WIBISCO Lisa Boxill made similar comments as they presented the students with their gifts.
“WIBISCO is all about the youth, sports and culture and we could not have let this moment pass unless we acknowledged these two brave young people who helped the elderly man,” Boxill said.
